During the Gate Rune War, Pahn initally served the Scarlet Moon Empire, but he eventually reunited with McDohl in Kouan. Though commanded by Kraze Miles to capture McDohl, Pahn declined. Struggling against his notions of loyalty versus what his own heart felt was right, he turned on Kraze, choosing to follow his heart from that point on.

Although he wished to join the Toran Liberation Army, Pahn also understood that he may not be easily forgiven for his past choices. Still, he would be accepted into the army. Pahn protected McDohl loyally and was one of the first to arrive after an assassin attacked the young master, afterwards standing guard outside of his door.

However, when Pahn, Cleo, Gremio and Tir discovered an unconscious, badly beaten Ted, he quickly deduced that it was the Imperial Guard who had wanted Ted. Though the rest of the McDohl household was hesitant to do so, Pahn wanted to contact the Imperial Guard, lest they get Teo into trouble. Though Cleo tried to delay any decision until Ted woke up and told them what had happened, Pahn eventually left to notify the Imperial Guard of Ted's whereabouts. This caused Tir McDohl, Gremio, and Cleo to become fugitives as they were forced to flee the Gregminster.
Pahn proved his allegiance further when Teo McDohl attacked Toran Castle. To buy the Toran Liberation Army time, Pahn dueled Teo. This threw the choice Pahn made into stark relief. He was now fighting for Teo's son against Teo himself, whereas before he had betrayed his confidence for what he thought was Teo's best interests.

During the beginning of the Gate Rune War, Pahn served the Scarlet Moon Empire, but he would eventually reunite with Tir, Gremio, and Cleo in Kouan. Though commanded by Kraze Miles to capture Tir and his party , Pahn declined, saying that while he did not regret his decision, Pahn could no longer stand by the Scarlet Moon Empire as he wished to follow his heart and join the Toran Liberation Army. Tir quickly welcomed Pahn into his forces and Pahn, in return, protected Tir loyally; he was one of the first to arrive after an assassin attacked Tir and even stood guard with Gremio outside of Tir's door the following evening. Pahn was affected greatly by Gremio's death, and protested against Milich Oppenheimer being allowed to join the Toran Liberation Army.
Pahn proved the victor of the duel, forcing Teo to retreat, though Pahn would always wonder whether Teo had taken it easy on him. Still, his heart never wavered during that battle and he would continue to fight as the fist of the Liberation Army until the end of the war.

Pahn proved his loyalty when Teo McDohl attacked the Toran Liberation Army headquarters, Toran Castle. Unable to compete with the force of Teo McDohl's Armored Cavalry, the Liberation Army was forced to withdraw. To buy them time, Pahn waited to hold off Teo McDohl.  Teo challenged Pahn to a one-on-one duel, which satisfied  Pahn's wish that he would one day fight Teo. Pahn proved the victor of the duel, forcing Teo to retreat, though Pahn would always wonder whether Teo had taken it easy on him.
After the war, Pahn left on a journey to improve himself, although he would infrequently return to the household. Three years later, however, he returned to Gregminster, since he was out of money, although he claimed it was because he had a feeling that McDohl would be returning to the city.

Pahn continued to serve Tir throughout the Toran Liberation War, pleased to see that Tir had matured into a young leader but missed him greatly.

* Like him or not, you are going to have to build Pahn up for the fight of his life against Teo or you will risk not getting a complete game. Including Pahn in your trip through the Kunan region (Milich Oppenheimer's domain) may help expedite this as to cut down on any boring grinding you may need to do before the Teo battle.
* It is quite possible to lose Pahn forever, as he must win his duel with Teo. The fight is so one-sided that even the game makes it appear that Pahn is supposed to lose. It takes the best available equipment and as much of a weapon upgrade as he can get just to slip by sometimes.

History

I-I want to follow my heart. Whether my heart is right or wrong will be judged by history.

—  Pahn

Pahn is a skilled martial artist who swore allegiance to Geil Rugner during the War of Succession. Pahn faced General Teo McDohl in a duel during the war and lost; after this, Pahn defected to Teo McDohl's forces. Pahn came to live in the McDohl household and even helped in the upbringing of Teo's young son. Pahn continued to protect and help McDohl during his missions for the Imperial Guard.

He was frequently concerned with doing what was just and following the right path. As such, when Ted arrived at the McDohl household badly injured, Pahn deduced that the Imperial Guard who had wanted Ted and left to notify the Imperial Guard of his whereabouts, not wanting to bring any harm to the McDohl household or Master Teo.

We kind of regret the decision you made that day, if that counts for anything.

He was now fighting for Teo's son against Teo himself, whereas before he had betrayed his confidence for what he thought was Teo's best interests.

Pahn proved the victor of the duel, forcing Teo to retreat, though Pahn would always wonder whether Teo had taken it easy on him. Still, his heart never wavered during that battle and he would continue to fight as the fist of the Liberation Army until the end of the war.

After the war, Pahn left on a journey to improve himself, although he would infrequently return to the household. Three years later, however, he returned to Gregminster, since he was out of money, although he claimed it was because he had a feeling that McDohl would be returning to the city.
