Rikimaru (リキマル, Rikimaru) is a character in Suikoden II. He is a wandering swordsman in search for revenge, although he is something of a glutton as well.
History
Hey Riou, I really love this place. I can eat as much as I want for free. It's like heaven.
— Rikimaru
Rikimaru was a carefree and some would say listless wanderer who enjoyed sleeping and eating in equal measure. Wandering through the City-States of Jowston, would sometimes visit Ryube Village and Coronet. Rikimaru was found collapsed outside an inn, whining about his hunger.
The hero would take him to an inn where he would proceed to fill his stomach with several courses of food. As Rikimaru had no potch, having apparently given his money to some beggars, he was most grateful when the 3,000 potch tab he had acquired was paid off for him and he joined the New Alliance Army.
His vow to serve the New Alliance Army seemed to be the only thing he took seriously. Although said to be searching for revenge, Rikimaru's primary concern while serving with the New Alliance Army seemed to be food. Before journeying to Jowston, while in Gregminster, he ate for two days straight and had to escape from the inn during the night as he couldn't pay his bill.
In fact, his favourite thing to do was to eat until he just about burst, then spend an entire day sleeping it all off. Despite this, Rikimaru was still a skilled warrior, serving as an infantry captain for the New Alliance Army.
Following the Dunan Unification War, Rikimaru headed north, still in search of the object of his revenge.

Recruitment
Help Rikimaru outside the Ryube Village inn then agree to pay for his meal (3,000 potch) and he will join you. If you miss him in Ryube, you can do try again in Coronet Town.
The name "Rikimaru" seems to be a yōmyō, a child naming convention that was once common in Japan. As Rikimaru is not a child, the name would appear to be an alias. His name, when broken down, would mean "Dear Riki (Ricky)". This, along with Richmond's stating of his hometown has led some to believe that Rikimaru is, or is avenging, or has some other connection to, an unnamed member of the Silverberg family.
