The Matilda Knightdom (マチルダ騎士団領, Machiruda Kishidan Ryō) is a region in Suikoden II. It is a constituent city-state of the City-States of Jowston.

Overview

The Matilda Knightdom lies to the north of Muse Principality and is the home of the formidable Matilda Knights.

To the south-west lies Greenhill Principality and in the east lies Higheast Province, the former Highland Kingdom. The Holy Kingdom of Harmonia is located north of the Knightdom while heading west takes one to the Grasslands.

Initially a defense force to protect Muse City from invasion from the Highland Kingdom, the Matilda Knights would be granted land of its own in SY 294. This knightdom would become a founding member of the City-States of Jowston in 314.

It would boast the largest military force in the alliance and wielded considerable influence due to this. During the 460 Dunan Unification War, the head of the knights, Gordeau, refused several times to fight in battles against the Highland Army.

When Gordeau eventually allied with Highland, the knightdom would be occupied by its allies and eventually be invaded by the New Alliance Army. Rockaxe Castle would be taken and marked the end of the knightdom as a city-state.

Following the war, with the aid of Camus and Miklotov, the Matilda Knights were rebuilt and the knightdom would become part of the new Dunan Republic.
