| A liberating invention needs a liberated world.
Let me tell you about a dude named Manu....
Sergei was a decent, hard-working inventor whose designs were often scorned by the authorities of the time as their advanced nature meant that few could appreciate their potential. Because of this, by the time of the Gate Rune War, Sergei for all his intelligence had not sold a single invention in his time.
His work was inspired by the concept of expanding freedom for those who used his inventions. As such, he found the hero open to his ideas while he lamented his situation at a tavern in Kaku and so became an early member of the Toran Liberation Army.
Sergei installed his invention, the elevator, at Toran Castle which proved to be a popular time saver for Liberation Army officials. In combat, Sergei wielded his spanner. The spanner was his favorite work tool and was vital in his development of the elevator.
After the Gate Rune War, Sergei earned great wealth from his inventions and the patents and royalties that stemmed from them.
