Amada was known for his distinct personality and various traits that made him stand out among others. Despite his rough exterior, he held a chivalrous spirit within him, endearing him to his colleagues. He was said to look older than he was, due to his rough lifestyle.
His favorite breakfast consisted of a substantial serving of fermented soybeans on rice, a dish he believed to be essential for starting his day properly.
Amada displayed unwavering confidence in his physical strength and prowess, leading him to challenge the hero on two occasions. His oar weapons were at first glance named after trees, but are in fact named after hanafuda suits.
Furthermore, Amada often proclaimed that he was born on the sea and declared that the sea would also be where he would meet his fate. He expressed a strong affinity for the sea, stating that he was not particularly fond of dry land.
History
Aw, seriously? Maybe I read you wrong. Ya look like a pretty tough kid, so I thought ya'd be up for it.
— Amada
Originally hailing from the Island Nations, Amada found employment in Radat Town, a place known for its frequent trade with the islands. There, he worked as a sailor on trading vessels as well alongside the crew responsible for operating the sluice gate and managing water levels in the area. His sailing work meant that he had somewhat of a professional relationship with Shu.

When the hero, accompanied by Nanami and Apple, needed the water level lowered, Amada initially refused, following Gin's initial rebuff. However, upon witnessing the hero's determination, he eventually agreed to lower the water level after being defeated by the hero in a duel.
Following the establishment of the New Alliance Army, Amada became one of the two individuals considered to guide the hero and the party to Lakewest. Before accepting the task, he challenged the hero to a second duel. Defeated once more, he willingly joined the ranks of the army, showcasing his prowess as a sailor and a naval soldier during the ensuing battle against the Highland Kingdom.
After the conclusion of the Dunan Unification War, Amada assumed command of a vessel and returned to his native Island Nations, continuing his life tied to the sea.
