Valeria has a strong and confident appearance, with long, wavy, light brown hair and piercing green eyes. Her facial expression is calm but determined, giving her an air of discipline and skill.
She wears a striking red outfit with gold and black armor elements. Her attire consists of a red dress or tunic with high slits on the sides, allowing for ease of movement in battle.
Over this, she wears gold and black plate armor, including shoulder guards, a breastplate, and protective elements on her waist and hips. She also wears red boots with black and gold accents, completing her uniform.
She wears a long white glove on her sword hand and a shorter glove on her opposite hand. She wields a rapier, the Star Sword, which once belonged to her father.
Personality
Known as "Blazing Valeria" for her fierce combat style and red attire, Valeria was disciplined, straightforward, and deeply loyal to those she cared for. Her sense of duty and moral integrity often drove her to make difficult choices, such as defecting from the Imperial Army to protect her homeland and joining the Toran Liberation Army.
Despite her stern exterior, Valeria was deeply compassionate, as seen in her willingness to sacrifice herself to save others and her efforts to mediate with the elves after the war. Although disciplined, she was a very emotional and passionate person.
Her rivalry with Anita, though filled with competitive banter, is rooted in mutual respect and a shared drive to improve. Valeria's pragmatic nature and experience as a veteran also makes her a voice of wisdom during times of crisis, as she understands the importance of leadership and composure in the face of adversity.
History
This lack of fighting is making my sword arm antsy.
— Valeria
Born in a humble village near the Great Forest, Valeria grew up in poverty, her father having retired from the Imperial Army to become a farmer. When her mother was killed by a one-tusked Gold Boar, Valeria, at the age of 13, vowed revenge and took on the responsibility of her family.
By 14, she had taught herself swordsmanship and, with the aid of the swordsman Kong Long, avenged her mother's death. Her feat of slaying the boar earned her local renown, and she later discovered her father's Star Sword, which became her weapon of choice.
Trained by Kong Long and inspired by tales of the Tiger General, Valeria joined the Imperial Army under General Kwanda Rosman during the War of Succession, earning the nickname "Blazing Valeria" for her fiery combat style and crimson attire. She rose through the ranks due to her skill and intelligence, eventually training under the legendary Roundia Haia in Kanakan, where she formed a fierce rivalry with Anita.
Though their personalities clashed—Valeria being disciplined and Anita carefree—they shared a deep mutual respect. After graduating, Valeria was granted the Falcon Rune, further enhancing her prowess.
During the Gate Rune War, Valeria's loyalty to the Empire wavered when Kwanda Rosman planned to burn the Great Forest using the Burning Mirror. Horrified at the potential destruction of her homeland, she defected, warning the elves of Lukie Ende Towayo.
Cool as a coolcumber.
Though initially imprisoned, she joined the Toran Liberation Army after meeting its members. Valeria's selflessness was evident when she surrendered herself to the Imperial Army to ensure the destruction of the Burning Mirror, a sacrifice that nearly cost her life.
Rescued by Liberation forces, she continued to fight for their cause for the remainder of the war. Following the conflict, she would become a Great General of the Toran Republic and a mediator with the elves.
In the Dunan Unification War, Valeria lent her strength to the New Alliance Army at the behest of President Lepant, rekindling her rivalry with Anita on the battlefield. Despite their competitive spirit, the two shared moments of camaraderie, often meeting at taverns during lulls in the war.
Valeria's experience and wisdom were invaluable, as she advised the hero to maintain composure in the face of loss, understanding the importance of leadership in times of crisis.
After the war, Valeria returned to Gregminster, her legacy as a warrior and leader firmly cemented. Her rivalry with Anita remained unresolved, their final duel interrupted by Millie and Nash, leaving their contest inconclusive.
Valeria was Murayama Yoshitaka's favorite character and he credits his favoritism for the power of Valeria's Falcon Rune, as well as its unique critical hit animation, in Suikoden II.
