Sydonia is the second-in-command of the Mt. Seifu Bandits, after Varkas. The Mt. Seifu bandits stole only from Scarlet Moon Empire officials, but in doing so drew the ire of Grady, who blamed the Mt. Seifu bandits for Rockland's inability to pay taxes. When Tir McDohl and Kanaan came to investigate the Mt. Seifu bandits, Varkas told Sydonia to introduce himself, but Sydonia only asked why he should do bother doing so; after commenting on Sydonia's affability, Varkas introduced Sydonia for him, calling him Marksman Sydonia. The two battled with Tir McDohl and his party, but were unable to defeat them; Varkas and Sydonia were taken captive and delivered to Grady.
Sydonia was raised as a spectacle in a traveling show, lured away from his parents as a child, due to his unique teleport powers. He could teleport short distances by concentrating on his left hand.

One day, that group would be raided by Guin's bandits. Initially distrustful, he began to open up to Varkas who ensured his safety in captivity, even having his collar removed by Lee. He disliked his name being used as it was also the word used to activate the magical shock collar that kept him in check, when the person speaking it held a ring magically connected to the collar.

When he learned that the acrimony between Varkas and Guin had spilled over into physical confrontations, he offered to teleport to Guin at night and stab him to death. Varkas would dismiss the idea, not wanting Guin to die, and also not wanting to use Sydonia's power as a tool.

When the Imperial Guard left Rockland, Grady had Sydonia and Varkas strung up outside of his mansions, leaving them there to starve. One of the Mt. Seifu bandits managed to travel to Lenankamp, where he met with Odessa Silverberg and the Toran Liberation Army and asked them to rescue Varkas and Sydonia. Tir McDohl and his party, confessing their part in Varkas and Sydonia's capture, agreed to go rescue them, and journeyed with Viktor back to Rockland. After they successfully rescued Varkas, Varkas asked them rescue Sydonia as well. However, Sydonia claimed that this would not be necessary, and used a teleportation technique to escape the ropes. When Varkas asked why Sydonia had not done that earlier, Sydonia replied that he couldn't escape alone. Upon meeting an enraged Grady, Sydonia commented on how he wanted to tear Grady into pieces, but Grady quickly retreated from the freed bandits. Varkas told Tir that should Odessa need them, Varkas and Sydonia would come to her aid.
When Guin poisoned Varkas and then tried to murder him, Sydonia would use his teleportation to stop Guin from reaching his blade. Varkas would strike down Guin, and Sydonia and Lee would have Hodai cure Varkas. Since then, he has worked under Varkas in the group, as his second-in-command.

After the Toran Liberation Army acquired Toran Castle, Sydonia made his way there along with Varkas in hopes of returning the favour they owed the Toran Liberation by joining them. Varkas asked Sydonia to say something, but Sydonia simply said hello. Sydonia stayed with the Toran Liberation Army throughout the war; prior to the last battle, Varkas attempted to rally their troops with Sydonia, but Sydonia merely replied, "Heh".

Sydonia's teleporting has earned him the title of "Marksman Sydonia." The bandits would attack Scarlet Moon Empire officials around the area of Rockland. He fought using a projectile weapon, a rope sling which fired a metal weight. He was extremely taciturn, with Varkas being the only person he was willing to communicate at any length with. Sydonia and Varkas were captured by the son of Teo McDohl on the orders of Kanaan. When the Imperial Guard left Rockland, Sydonia and Varkas were strung up and left to starve to death. Sydonia (シドニア, Shidonia) is a supporting character in Suikoden. Sydonia is a bandit of few words with a unique teleportation ability.

History

Affable fellow. Anyway, that there is Marksman Sydonia.

—  Varkas

Couldn't you teleport and then untie Varkas?

Sydonia's teleporting has earned him the title of "Marksman Sydonia." The bandits would attack Scarlet Moon Empire officials around the area of Rockland. He fought using a projectile weapon, a rope sling which fired a metal weight. He was extremely taciturn, with Varkas being the only person he was willing to communicate at any length with. He had a habit of beginning his few sentences with "Heh...."

Sydonia and Varkas were captured by the son of Teo McDohl on the orders of Kanaan. When the Imperial Guard left Rockland, Sydonia and Varkas were strung up and left to starve to death. Although eventually rescued by the same group who had captured them, Sydonia apparently could have teleported away at any time but chose not to escape alone.

Later, after the Toran Liberation Army acquired Toran Castle, Sydonia and Varkas joined the group. He would spend him time with Varkas and the other bandits and lake pirates aligned with the Liberation Army, feeling more at ease among such colleagues.

Following the end of the Gate Rune War, Sydonia was invited to join the Toran Republic Border Guard by Varkas, but Sydonia simply disappeared.
