Rowd was the Captain of the [[Unicorn Brigade]]. Rowd thought that this position was unlucky, and felt that he had been assigned to do little more than babysit children<ref>"Up until now I've been forced to babysit this bunch of kids. But my bad luck has come to an end. With this on my record, my future is assured. Soon I'll be captain of a real company in this area....Huh?" - Rowd ([[Suikoden II]])</ref>. Rowd desired a position with a larger salary in order to aid his blind sister, who he wanted to take to a famous doctor in the Toran Republic<ref>"About my eyes...When my big brother gets rich, he said he'll take me to a famous doctor in the Toran Republic and have my eyes fixed. Rowd was born in [[Kyaro Town]]. When he was a youth, he volunteered for the [[Highland Army]], becoming a member of the [[Unicorn Brigade]]. Due to excellent performance, he would go on to be appointed Captain of the Unicorn Brigade.


[[Luca Blight]], the Prince of the [[Highland Kingdom]], persuaded Rowd to slaughter the Unicorn Brigade and blaming the slaughter of the children on the [[City-State of Jowston]]<ref>"It's just as we planned, Prince Luca. Everyone fled east through the woods. The ambush worked perfectly." - Rowd ([[Suikoden II]])</ref> in exchange for a higher rank and salary<ref>"And I have big plans too. I don't want to be captain of a bunch of kids. I want a job where I can make some real money. To do that, I need you two to die as a pair of treacherous spies. " - Rowd ([[Suikoden II]])</ref>. Rowd performed his part during the [[Unicorn Brigade Massacre]], encouraging his young charges to run to the east where they would be slaughtered by the Highland army.
It is said that he was the brother of a blind girl living in Kyaro Town, but the facts are not clear on the matter. The blind girl would talk about how her brother was working hard to improve his situation and make a lot of money so he could take her to the [[Toran Republic]] for treatment as her condition was not incurable. As a person, he had a belief in his own strength but lacked a sense of pride.


However, Rowd's plans did not go smoothly. Despite becoming well-respected in Highland following the attack<ref>"Wow Captain Rowd is amazing! I heard that he was so brave during that State attack. " - Man ([[Suikoden II]])</ref>, two young men escaped the massacre: [[Riou]] and [[Jowy Atreides]]. Rowd had them captured when they returned to [[Kyaro]], and was planning on executing them, but they were saved by [[Viktor]] and [[Flik]].

Rowd was sent to the siege of [[Muse]] encountered the Riou and Jowy again. Recognizing the two, Rowd chased after the two and successfully captured Jowy. Later in the war, Rowd was sent to [[Greenhill]] with Jowy, who had now become the Commander of the Highland expedition to Greenhill.  
Rowd was a man willing to do anything to advance his career. He had entered the military dreaming of a glamorous life in the [[L'Renouille|Imperial Capital]] rather than a posting in his small country town and so, he would communicate with [[Luca Blight]], aiding him in his plot to wipe out the boys of his own Unicorn Brigade in order to fabricate a reason for war against the [[City-State of Jowston]].


Rowd finally got the promotion he sought as he joined [[Kiba Windameir]] and [[Klaus Windameir]] during the campaign of [[South Window]], taking the reigns of the 4th Company of the Royal Highland Army<ref>"We're being slaughtered. However, he tended to be conservative with his troop movements, not wanting to do anything that might upset his career<ref>"Okay, we'll just watch for a bit. Remember if you mess this up, it might hurt my career, too." - Rowd ([[Suikoden II]])</ref>.

Rowd (ラウド, Raudo) is a minor antagonist in Suikoden II, who also appears in Genso Suikogaiden Vol.1. Rowd is the captain of the Unicorn Brigade and later the leader of the Royal Highland Army 4th Company.

Rowd was born in Kyaro Town. When he was a youth, he volunteered for the Highland Army, becoming a member of the Unicorn Brigade. Due to excellent performance, he would go on to be appointed Captain of the Unicorn Brigade.

It is said that he was the brother of a blind girl living in Kyaro Town, but the facts are not clear on the matter. The blind girl would talk about how her brother was working hard to improve his situation and make a lot of money so he could take her to the Toran Republic for treatment as her condition was not incurable.
