In the past, Mazus was a student of Crowley but as his talents grew, Mazus also began to wish to surpass his teacher. At one point in the past, Crowley and Mazus fought, using so much magical power that they leveled three mountains and made it rain for an entire week.

  • Just as Crowley was named after a real-life British mystic, Aleister Crowley, Mazus was inspired by Aleister's real-life teacher, Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers. Like their Suikoden counterparts, Crowley and Mathers would also fall out over time.
