Shin served as the bodyguard of Teresa Wisemail, in her capacity as Mayor of Greenhill City, as hired by the Wisemail family. He is a practitioner of the Eight Death Sword and wielded the Tarantula sword, utilizing his Spider Slay technique to great effect in combat.
During the Highland Army advance on the city during the Dunan Unification War, he was the only trained swordsman in the Greenhill army, which was made up entirely of citizen soldiers. He would cooperate with Nash Latkje and when Teresa was captured by the rebellious Muse soldiers, he went with Nash to rescue her.
Following Greenhill's occupation, Shin helped Teresa hide in the forests behind the city and was willing to lay down his life to ensure her safety. Once Teresa had been convinced of the need to leave Greenhill by the New State Army, Shin prevented Highland soldiers from pursuing Teresa, all too willing to risk his life to secure her escape. After this, Fitcher managed to help Shin escape to the New State Army Headquarters, where he was reunited with Teresa.
In reality, Shin's loyalty was to Teresa, rather than her office. He was absolutely loyal to Teresa and was willing to give up his life to protect her. His dedication had grown into a sincere love, but he never fully expressed those feelings as he felt unworthy of her as a swordsman.
As such, following the war, he would leave Greenhill in order to continue honing his skills as a swordsman. He never returned to the city.
