Kirke (キルケ, Kiruke) is a supporting character in Suikoden. Kirke is an executioner who describes his sole talent as "cutting off heads."
History
|

Kirke, who served as an executioner stationed at the Fortress of Lorimar, found himself facing a peculiar predicament during the Gate Rune War. Neclord's sinister acts of reanimating the deceased in the region significantly affected his line of work, causing business to slow down considerably.
The morbid nature of his duty, involving the execution of criminals through decapitation, had a profound impact on Kirke's heart, darkening it unbeknownst even to himself. However, fate would soon offer him an unexpected opportunity for redemption when he received an invitation to join the Toran Liberation Army. This invitation heralded a new chance at life, allowing Kirke to escape the confines of his disliked occupation and embrace a brighter path.
Embracing his new role as a valued member of the Wild Geese unit within the Liberation Army, Kirke's once ominous scythe, which had once served as an instrument of finality for the condemned, now symbolized hope and resilience in the pursuit of a better world. With the hatchet-like blade of his scythe now drawn out to champion the cause of the Liberation Army, Kirke showcased his mettle on the battlefield.
Following the triumph of the Liberation Army and the fall of the Scarlet Moon Empire, Kirke made a remarkable career shift, relinquishing his scythe to the capable hands of Lorelai and embracing a new vocation as a farmer, where he would wield a plough instead, symbolizing the fertile prospects of a peaceful life.

Trivia
- Kirke's three weapon names are derived from Tarot cards. He shares this distinction with Suikoden II's Rina.
- Kirke has become somewhat of a memorable optional character because he wants to make sure you are completely okay with the fact that all he knows how to do is cut off heads.
