Imperial Guard

The Imperial Guard (帝国近衛隊, Teikoku Konoe Tai, Imperial Guard Corps) is a Scarlet Moon Empire military regiment that appears in Suikoden. The Imperial Guard is a military force that included Kraze Miles, Kanaan, and McDohl.

The Imperial Guard was one of the three parts of the Scarlet Moon Empire's military organization. Its official duties were to protect the emperor as well as the Imperial Capital of Gregminster.

The Imperial Guard was responsible for a wide variety of duties within the Scarlet Moon Empire, including retrieving the Astral Predications from the Seer Leknaat, investigating and notifying towns of tax issues as well as defending the emperor and the Imperial Capital, Gregminster.

Members of the Imperial Guard held a reputation for having prowess in battle and were expected to be trained enough to fend for themselves in places such as Magician's Island.

During the late ages of the Scarlet Moon Empire, the Imperial Guard was commanded by Kraze Miles; during Kraze's command, the Imperial Guard became known for corruption and brutality. Working for the Imperial Guard was ironically considered to be an honor by Kraze.

Meanwhile, Kraze's assistant, Kanaan, used his position in the Imperial Guard to force his subordinates to obey him and claimed to disobey him was to disobey the Empire itself. Such abuses all throughout the Imperial Guard would greatly sully its reputation.

At the end of the Gate Rune War, the Imperial Guard formed most of the resistance to the Toran Liberation Army advance in Gregminster Palace.

Following the establishment of the Toran Republic, the Imperial Guard would be replaced by the new Republican Guard, under the command of both Alen and Grenseal.
