Jingisukan (ジンギスカン, Jingisukan), localized as Genghis Khan in the 1999 English localization of Suikoden II, is a recipe in Suikoden II. It is Recipe #36 in the game.

Information

Jingisukan is mainly created by roasting lamb on an iron spit or wire mesh. The Coopa, or rice casserole with salt as a seasoning, has a reputation for being very tasty, but the regular Jingisukan has a very particular taste, so it is a dish that people tend to either love or hate.

The dish was a Rockaxe specialty and its recipe, Recipe #36, could only be obtained from the Highland Soldiers at Rockaxe Castle in the latter stages of the Dunan Unification War. Yuzu, who branded names on her ranch animals depending on their ultimate destination, branded one sheep with the name Jingisukan.

Trivia

  • This mutton-based dish was indeed named after the 12th and 13th century Mongolian leader Genghis Khan and was named such due to the dish being inspired by northeastern Chinese culinary culture in the 1930s. The dish name, regardless of location or language, normally uses the Japanese transliteration.
