History
|
Marlowe was a tutor of the young Lilly Pendragon, daughter of Tinto City Mayor Gustav. He had an extremely timid personality and spent most of his time reading books. In fact, he was entirely self-taught, never having the chance to receive formal education. As books could be very expensive in Tinto, he was very careful with his possessions. Still, along with his learnedness, he long held a desire to be a brave hero as well.
He was frequently bullied due to his shyness as a child but still managed to become friends with Koyu, who protected him, and the other Lampdragon bandits. To each other, Koyu and Marlowe each had something the other lacked, in Marlowe's case he had studiousness but not strength.
During the Dunan Unification War, Marlowe met the leader of the New State Army, whose leadership inspired Marlowe to help out as much as he could during Neclord's attack on Tinto. He would then join the New State Army, in part to work on a biography of his new inspiration, which he entitled The Path of the Warrior.
After the war ended, Marlowe founded a library in Tinto City where he taught many children the joys of learning. He would also become a minister when the Tinro Republic was founded after the war.
