Dragon Knight Commander
Joshua Levenheit was the bearer of the Dragon Rune, one of the 27 True Runes, and the eternal commander of the Knights of the Dragon's Den. A man of profound magnanimity and unwavering sincerity, he was revered by all under his banner. The circumstances of his inheritance of the Dragon Rune remain shrouded in mystery, but it is known that he rose to prominence in an age of great upheaval.
Endowed with the power to command dragons and sustain their existence in the mortal realm, Joshua bore the burden of immortality across two centuries, leading the Dragon Knights. His mastery of the Dragon Rune rendered him a figure of immense martial prowess, and his spirit was inextricably bound to all dragons. Unlike his brethren, he rode no single mount, for he grieved as a father for every dragon lost and bore the weight of their deaths as his own failing.
Friendship with Humphrey
Joshua held Humphrey Mintz in high esteem, considering him a trusted friend. Their first meeting came when Humphrey, then a Centurion of the Scarlet Moon Empire, was dispatched to investigate rumors of a dragon’s rampage. Joshua accompanied him, and though his slight frame belied his station, his skill in battle was beyond question.
Together, they confronted the undead dragon Sterling, who had risen as a revenant to guard its fallen master. When Humphrey defied orders to preserve Sterling’s honor, Joshua declared him a sworn ally of the Dragon Knights.
Gate Rune War

Though Joshua had once pledged fealty to Emperor Barbarossa during the War of Succession, the empire’s growing corruption and disdain for the Dragon Knights stirred his righteous fury.
During the Gate Rune War , Joshua was persuaded to lend his strength to the Toran Liberation Army after counsel from Humphrey and the sage Liukan, who aided in curing the knights' poisoned dragons. It fell to Joshua to make the grievous choice of using Black's liver for the antidote, and he alone bore the sorrow of informing the young knight Futch of the deed.
Knowing Futch would face expulsion, Joshua sought to console him, entrusting him to Humphrey’s care in the hope that one day, he might return. Some speculate the Dragon Rune granted Joshua foresight of Futch’s destiny.
Legacy
Even after joining the Liberation Army, Joshua remained in the Dragon Knight's Domain, for his death would spell doom for all dragons. Moreover, prolonged absence risked the Dragon Rune’s power waning, leaving the younger dragons unrestrained.
With the help of Joshua and Knights of the Dragon's Den, the power of the Liberation Army grew immensely. Joshua usually coordinated the Dragon Knights' war effort from Goya. In preparation for battles, Joshua would be notified ahead of time to ensure he was away from the Dragon Knight's Domain for as little time as possible.
At the last battle, Joshua channeled the Dragon Rune's might to amplify Leknaat's half of the Gate Rune, overwhelming Windy's sorcery and banishing her summoned horrors.
Following the war, Joshua retained his command. In time, he passed the Dragon Rune to Milia, though whether by death or abdication remains unknown.
