Gen (ゲン, Gen) is a supporting character in Suikoden. A shipwright by trade, Gen invented a motorboat with the scientist Kamandol.
History
|

Gen was a highly skilled shipwright residing in the town of Teien. Known for his exceptional craftsmanship, he took immense pride in his work. With his strong-willed and inquisitive nature, he maintained a deep sense of pride in his creations. He was always looking for challenging new work in order to improve his skills.
Gen was also a neighbor of Kamandol, and while they often engaged in heated arguments and appeared to dislike each other, they shared a bond of mutual understanding and camaraderie.
During the Gate Rune War, the Toran Liberation Army sought Gen's expertise to construct a boat capable of navigating the treacherous Rapids of Dunan. He was curt with the group until he learned what they needed. Offered the chance to push his skills yet further, he eagerly agreed to the commission. Collaborating with Kamandol, he successfully built the required vessel, known as the Speedboat.
Subsequently, Gen decided to join the Liberation Army and served as a commander in the Carpenters unit during the war. As the conflict progressed, he further improved his ship, enhancing its speed and performance. He would often be seen at Toran Castle's docks, continually working.
Following the conclusion of the Gate Rune War, Gen returned to Teien, resuming his vocation as a shipwright, and continued to contribute his remarkable talents to his craft.
