Ain Gide (アイン・ジード, Ain Jīdo) is a character in Suikoden. A general of the Scarlet Moon Empire, Ain Gide stayed true to Barbarosa Rugner throughout the Gate Rune War.

History

I, Ain Gide, swore an oath of loyalty. Were I to betray him, who would he have left?

—  Ain Gide
Wait... these are my regular clothes, jerk!!

Initially starting his military career as a low-ranking soldier in the Scarlet Moon Empire's Imperial Army, Ain Gide earned a place in Teo McDohl's unit, drawing attention from Teo himself, which led to a promotion.

During the War of Succession, Ain Gide fought alongside his close friend Teo in the crucial battle at the Fortress of Kwaba, providing valuable support to his comrade amidst challenging circumstances.

Years later, amidst the unfolding Gate Rune War, Ain Gide held authority over the Fortress of Kwaba, fulfilling the role of Imperial security commander. Notably, he was recognized for his skills and merits; however, he modestly refrained from seeking titles or nicknames.

Due to his deep friendship with Teo, when Teo's son sought passage through the fortress while fleeing charges of treason, Ain chose to overlook the young man's identity, prioritizing loyalty to his friend over his official duties.

Nevertheless, Ain Gide remained a dedicated warrior, unswervingly committed to the Scarlet Moon Empire. As the Gate Rune War approached its culmination, Ain's forces were withdrawn from Kwaba and repositioned to defend Gregminster. Following the final battle, with the awareness that the war had concluded, Ain ordered his men to surrender.

In the closing moments of the conflict, as the Toran Liberation Army approached Gregminster Palace, Ain Gide stood alone as the last defender of the Empire. Despite being encouraged to stand down, and despite recognizing the Empire's defeat, Ain staunchly refused to yield.

In an unyielding display of fidelity to both his friendship with Teo and his loyalty to Emperor Barbarosa, Ain Gide valiantly battled the forces of the Liberation Army until he met his end. His actions exemplified the essence of a true warrior, proving that the decisions and conduct of an individual hold paramount importance.

Gameplay
