Mace (メース, Mēsu) is a supporting character in Suikoden. Mace is a master blacksmith, with several apprentices across the Toran region.
History

Mace was known as the greatest blacksmith in the land, holding the title of master blacksmith above all others. He was also a great teacher with several disciples of his own before he disappeared without warning.
Mace moved to the isolated Seek Valley, working in solitude and perfecting his technique by studying new ways of forging iron. Although he wished to be left alone, Mace's disciples, Maas, Meese, Mose and Moose were able to rekindle Mace's passion and convince him to come out of retirement and serve the Toran Liberation Army.
His passion rekindled, he was able to forge weapons to their highest level, truly embodying his title of master blacksmith. Seeing his students grow and improve so much also sparked his joy as a master. He often spoke philosophically about the nature of forging weapons, again showing his mastery in the field.
Following the Gate Rune War, Mace let his disciple, Moose succeed him as the master blacksmith before retiring for good.

Trivia
- Mace's weapon level when he joins you is 15. As Mace cannot sharpen his own weapon, he is the only permanent character in the game who cannot have a level 16 weapon without cheating.
