Suikoden II features some 145 prominent characters along with several other minor or referenced characters.
Of those 145 prominent characters, 110 comprise the game's 108 Stars. 72 of these 108 Stars are able to be selected for use in the player's six-person party. There are an additional 8 characters the player can use in their party, for a total of 80. The remaining 38 perform support functions at the player's headquarters and/or can also be deployed during the game's war battles.
