In Suikoden, weapons play a crucial role in combat, as direct attacks are the primary means of dealing damage. Players can strengthen their character's weapons by forging them at a blacksmith, which increases their attack power and enhances their effectiveness in battle.

Mace will only join if all other blacksmiths are recruited

Each upgrade requires potch (the game's currency), with costs rising significantly at higher levels. Players should prioritize forging weapons for frequently used characters, such as the hero and key allies like Viktor, to maximize their damage output.

Weapons gain increased attack power with each level, and upon reaching certain thresholds, they undergo a name change, reflecting their improved strength. The required level for a name change varies by the character's weapon type. To forge a weapon to its maximum level (16), players must recruit Mace, a skilled blacksmith who enables the highest-tier upgrades.

Efficient weapon management is essential, as stronger weapons significantly influence battle performance. As weapons gain the greatest strength increase when they are renamed, knowing when to invest limited money into weapon upgrades can also be important.
