Genso Suikoden: Soul Eater 2 (幻想水滸伝 ソウルイーター ⟨中⟩, Gensō Suikoden Souru Ītā Naka lit. Genso Suikoden Soul Eater Middle) is a book published by Kadokawa Shoten in 2000.
It is the second part of a three-party light novelization of the events of Suikoden. It covers the events of the game from events in the Great Forest to the player's battle with Teo McDohl.
Soul Eater 2 was originally planned to be the second half of a two-part series but due to its ever-increasing length and the reluctance of the editor to cut content, the series would instead be extended into a third volume, Soul Eater 3, to conclude the story.

Differences from the game
- The kobolds of the Great Forest are not driven into a frenzy by Kwanda's Conqueror Rune. They are oppressed and in hiding with Kuromimi's help.
- Stallion is not imprisoned in the Village of the Elves. He first appears having rescued Sylvina before the village was destroyed.
- The Chief of the Dwarves immediately believes that the plans for the Burning Mirror were stolen and there is no task to infiltrate the Dwarves' Vault. The conversation is shown in flashback.
- After the destruction of the Village of the Elves, the party does not attempt to return to Toran Castle, Valeria doesn't surrender herself to the Imperial Army, etc.
- The Battle at Pannu Yakuta in now a night-time battle in an attempt to mitigate Kwanda's Burning Mirror.
- Under the control of the Conqueror Rune, Kwanda has no respect for Barbarossa and only follows orders from Windy.
- There is a vignette of Teo McDohl learning of Kwanda's defeat. He dismisses the rumor of Tir being the leader of the Liberation Army but is concerned he hasn't heard from his son in some time.
- Milich Oppenheimer has already imprisoned Liukan to prevent him from concocting an antidote to his Antoinette's poisonous pollen the year before. In the game, Milich kidnaps and imprisons Liukan once the Liberation Army try and make contact with him.
- Because of this, the entire plot-line of recruiting Gen and Kamandol to bypass the Rapids of Dunan to reach Liukan's Hermitage is omitted.
- Because of that, Gremio's night-time lament about how Tir has grown is moved to the Fortress of Garan before the party set out to free Liukan.
- Mathiu meets Kimberly and Tesla off-screen and commissions them to create the fake orders.
- When confronted by the guards at Soniere Prison, Tir explains that Milich's cat is sick and the general wants Liukan to examine it.
- It is revealed that Flik had delivered the plans for the Fire Spears to the Secret Factory. In the game, the player and Odessa deliver the plans to Kage in Sarady.
- While a team makes for the Secret Factory, Tir trains with Kai. In the game, the player is the one to travel to the Secret Factory.
- Leknaat appears to Tir after Teo's defeat and tells him of Windy and the Soul Eater. In the game, this conversation happens before the Second Battle with Teo.
