Overview
A fated conflict unfolds over the "Soul Eater," the rune that governs life and death.
To later generations, this tale would be known as the "Gate Rune War."
In the year 446 of the Solar Calendar, the "War of Succession," a civil war, erupted within the Scarlet Moon Empire, the great power ruling the Lake Toran region. Initially, the legitimate heir to the throne, Barbarossa Rugner, was at a disadvantage. However, thanks to the efforts of the Six Imperial Generals, led by Teo McDohl, and their strategist, Leon Silverberg, he achieved a stunning comeback, successfully reclaiming the Imperial throne.
The following year, they repelled an invasion from the City-States of Jowston, a northern foreign power. The people revered Barbarossa, praising him as the "Golden Emperor."
But just a few years later... the Emperor fell under the spell of the court sorceress, Windy, and grew neglectful of his duties. As a result, corruption ran rampant through the military and court, and the Scarlet Moon Empire began a rapid descent into ruin.
It was during this time of decay that a young boy arrived for his first audience with the Emperor. He was the son of the great General Teo McDohl, and his eyes shone with hope for the future…
Yet, no one could have known that this boy would become the cornerstone that would change their era forever.
