Weapons (Suikoden II)

In Suikoden II, weapons are a vital component of combat, as direct attacks serve as the primary method of dealing damage. Characters can strengthen their weapons by visiting blacksmiths found in towns, villages, and at New Alliance Army Headquarters, where they can pay potch (the game's currency) to increase their weapon's level and attack power.

Since stronger weapons significantly enhance damage output, players should prioritize upgrading the arms of key party members, such as the hero and other frequently used fighters.

Each weapon undergoes a name change upon reaching certain levels, reflecting its increased strength, with higher-tier upgrades providing greater stat boosts. While standard blacksmiths can only forge weapons up to level 13, recruiting Tessai—a master blacksmith—and providing him with the Golden Hammer allows players to reach the maximum weapon level of 16. Additionally, runes attached to weapons further enhance their effectiveness, making it beneficial to equip them during blacksmith visits.

Efficient resource management is crucial, as weapon upgrades become increasingly expensive. Players should strategically allocate potch to optimize their strongest characters' combat potential.
