The First Engagement (最初の戦い戦, Saisho no Tatakai) is a naval battle that occurs in Suikoden IV. It is the first such battle of the game.
Information
This was a mock battle used as a graduation exercise for trainees on the cusp of becoming Knights of Gaien. Snowe Vingerhut captained a Gaien Ship in this exercise.
Despite being boarded easily by the 'enemy', Snowe and his crew generally performed well, though it was his friend who received the most plaudits from Commander Glen.

Notes
- The enemy ship cannot be boarded as the ship's free shot when boarding will sink the player's Gaien Ship in one hit, losing the battle instantly.
