History

We're gonna be famous! I don't know how yet, but I'm planning on asking Mr. Chiepoo next chance I get!

—  Nalkul

Nalkul is a young Nay-Kobold who is the close friend of Champo. Although he and Champo often engaged in petty theft and other roguish activities, Nalkul is, at heart, a friendly person, taking care of Champo even while berating him. Like most Nay-Kobolds, he did not like baths and avoided them when he could.

Like Champo, Nalkul looked up to Chiepoo for his leaving the village and traveling the world, although even Chiepoo was surprised by this hero-worship. Nalkul would steal the Golden Seal from the leader of the Stronghold Ship but when he realized that the Nay-Kobold accompanying him was Chiepoo himself, he offered to return the Golden Seal immediately and joined the Allied Forces.

After the Island Liberation War ended, Nalkul and Champo would begin a business on Nay Island as apprentices of Chiepoo.

Recruiting

Recruitment
After obtaining the Golden Seal as part of the plot, with Chiepoo in the party, visit the trading post at the Nay-Kobold Settlement and then attempt to cross the Suspension Bridge to the Stonecutter's Field. Return to the settlement and find Champo and Nalkul beside the locked warehouse. Complete Champo's rat-catching minigame and he will join you.

As you must have the Golden Seal in your inventory, Nalkul can only be recruited before the naval battle For Obel's Freedom.
