Eugene (ユージン, Yūjin) is a supporting character in Suikoden IV and Suikoden Tactics. Eugene is a timid but skillful spear user from Na-Nal Island.

History

I want to become a spear-user like Lord Lino... I better work hard.

—  Eugene
Any disappointing port in a disappointing son storm.

Eugene was a timid young spear user who, though possessed with natural talent, found it hard to utilize due to his shy nature. As he bore the Firefly Rune which made him a frequent target for enemies, it is possible that his timid nature may not have been so unreasonable.

Eugene's mother had planned to leave Eugene in the care of the Na-Nal Island Chief in order to toughen her son up, after hearing rumors of the Stronghold Ship, she entrusted him into its leader's care. From Eugene's standpoint, he had just been evicted but by experiencing the Island Liberation War, the youth did become stronger, both mentally and physically.

Although still suffering from confidence issues, he trained hard and looked up to both his leader as well as Lino En Kuldes as a fellow spear user. Rachel also saw the potential Eugene bore.

Following the war, he returned home to Na-Nal Island filled with newfound courage.
