Salome Harras (サロメ・ハラス, Sarome Harasu) is a major character in Suikoden III. Salome Harras is Chris' staff officer in the Zexen Knights.

History

One of the six renowned knights of Zexen. He is a surefooted strategist and acts as the military mentor of the knights.

Salome Harras was one of the Six Mighty Zexen Knights and served under Chris Lightfellow as her staff officer and chief strategist. He came from a disciplined background and studied military tactics from his master, Johanna. He placed great faith in his mentor's War Chronicles as a guide to strategy.

He was generally always cool and collected but his loyalty to Chris and to the Knights was said to burn hotter than anyone else. His calm and appropriate judgment and leadership ability made him well trusted and able to unite the group.

In addition to aiding Chris with tactical considerations, he also took care of the Knight's paperwork and general affairs. To an extent, Salome was the man who keeps the Zexen Knights running. In his spare time, Salome enjoyed drinking tea and was also a skilled cook, regarding it as a talent on par with his tactical acumen.

Skilled at political intrigue, he engaged in information warfare, maintaining contacts throughout the region, as far as the Holy Kingdom of Harmonia. By trading knowledge and information with people such as Nash and Geddoe, Salome further helped the Knights and proved himself indispensable to the order. He also monitored the Zexen Council in much the same manner.

With the help of Nash, he and Salome determined a hidden party was fueling the growing War of the Champions and agreed to work together to try and discover the identity of this group. As such, Salome requested Nash accompany Chris as to investigate this and also to track the Flame Champion, even as he encouraged Chris to depart to follow her own personal desire to discover the fate of her father.

As Geddoe was one of Salome's information contacts, it appeared that Salome had some insight into Wyatt Lightfellow being alive but did not have details of the exact circumstances of Wyatt's disappearance, nor of his living as a member of the Karaya Clan over the years. Due to their respective positions, Geddoe and Salome had also never met each other in person.

Salome was instrumental as Chris' tactician during the war, ensuring the Zexen Knight's survival before their alliance with the Fire Bringer and assisting Caesar Silverberg tactically after that. A man of foresight, he was one of the first to recognize the necessity of an alliance between the Zexen Knights and the Six Clans.

When Salome learned that elements of the Zexen Council were colluding with Harmonia, he secretly contacted Geddoe, asking him to protect Budehuc Castle from the council. Even though it put himself at risk to meet directly with a Harmonian mercenary, Salome recognized the importance of securing Budehuc Castle's independence to stymie the collaborationist faction in Vinay del Zexay.

Following the war, he would be appointed Vice-Captain of the Zexen Knights, under Chris Lightfellow, and would continue to support her in the campaigns ahead.
