Dupa (デュパ, Deyupa) is a supporting character in Suikoden III. He is the successor to Zepon as Chief of the Lizard Clan.
History
|
Dupa served as the warrior Chief of the Lizard Clan during the War of the Champions. Although he is prideful and aggressive, he is also courteous. Before he became Chief, Dupa served as the Left Fighter in Unit One of the Lizard Clan's Three Bodies Fighters. His headpiece is made up of feathers from birds he personally hunted during a hunting trial, making it a great source of personal pride.
He would become Chief of the Lizard Clan following Chief Zepon's assassination by the Destroyers. As the leader of the Lizard Clan, Dupa played a large role in the War of the Champions, cooperating (and sometimes butting heads) with the Fire Bringer. It took time for Dupa to trust the Zexen Knights especially. He attempted to repel the Harmonian invasion of Brass Castle alone before accepting their aid.
Dupa would continue to lead the Lizard Clan following the war, leading his people on the battlefield during clashes with the Zexen Federation.

Timeline Inconsistencies
Dupa's presence at Great Hollow, where he sees the fake Chris Lightfellow attack them during the assassination of Zepon and his attack on the Zexen Knights after the truce, when he learns of the apparent Zexen Knight attack he had previously witnessed for the first time, bring up a minor inconsistency.
As shown in the game, it would suggest that Zepon was assassinated while Dupa was there and then he forgot about it until after the truce, then broke the truce immediately. The most popular theories are that Dupa was luring Chris into a trap by keeping silent or that, more simply, Dupa was never at the Great Hollow and that his presence there in-game is a mistake.
