Dios (ディオス, Diosu) is a supporting character in Suikoden III. Dios is Sasarai's aide-de-camp within the Harmonian army.

History

The Chief of Staff of the Holy Harmonia Kingdom's regular army. He leads the army and supports Bishop Sasarai.

Dios was a man of sharp intellect and humble origins, born in the Holy Kingdom of Harmonia. Though a capable officer, he was often ill-favored by fortune, burdened with unfavorable duties and overlooked by his peers.

His keen mind was matched only by his lack of political acumen, and thus his merits went unrecognized for many years until the turmoil of the Higheast Rebellion, when his abilities caught the discerning eye of Bishop Sasarai.

Recognizing his worth, Sasarai elevated him to his Chief of Staff, a rare acknowledgment that Dios repaid with unwavering loyalty. From that day forth, he stood steadfastly at Sasarai’s side, serving with quiet efficiency both publicly and behind the scenes.

A man of pragmatism, Dios believed in the supremacy of wisdom over brute force. This philosophy was displayed during the incident at Chisha Village when Hugo, claiming the title of Flame Champion, challenged Harmonia to single combat. As Sasarai mischievously asked if he would answer the challenge, Dios demurred.

It was neither cowardice nor weakness that stayed his hand, but the simple understanding that some battles were not worth fighting. To those who knew him, this moment was pure Dios; a man who measured his actions by necessity, not pride.

In this way he was respected for his competence yet never one to seek the spotlight. He even once refrained from bathing when he noticed two of his comrades were engaged in a contest of endurance. After the revelation of Luc's true intentions, Dios arrived with reinforcements alongside Sasarai, joining the Fire Bringer as a trusted ally. In the years that followed, he remained a steadfast pillar at the bishop's side, his loyalty unwavering.
