History

Lulu's mother. Friend of Karaya Chief Lucia.

—  Luce's profile
Most of us survived, focus on that!

Resident of Karaya Village, Luce stood as both the mother of several warrior sons and as a confidant of Lucia, the Karaya chieftain. While her husband journeyed through southern lands, Luce maintained their household.

A woman of hearty laughter and thunderous scoldings, Luce became legendary among the Karaya Clan for her nurturing nature. Her home would became a sanctuary that embraced not only her children but also Jimba, a wandering soul she embraced as her own.

The War of the Champions brought unspeakable tragedy to this vibrant woman. When news came of Lulu's death in battle, she scolded her absent son as though he stood before her, unable to confront the truth of his death. The subsequent death of Jimba, her adopted son, compounded her sorrow.

Yet Luce's strength and largeness of heart endured. Within the walls of Budehuc Castle, her loud voice and ready meals provided solace to warriors and refugees alike. Kidd noted how she would insist on overfeeding visitors, making the tom yum kung that her family once enjoyed together. She also kept busy by helping to prepare props for the castle's theater.

In messages left for the castle's Suggestion Box, she wrote about missing Karayan cooking and longing for the open grasslands. She also articulated her driving purpose after the losses she suffered, to help those who lost family during the war in any way she can.

After the war's conclusion, Luce transformed her home into a refuge for children orphaned by the conflict, creating a new family from the ruins of war. The woman who had lost her sons now became mother to many.
