Sagiri (サギリ, Sagiri) is a supporting character in Suikoden V. Sagiri is an investigator who was raised as an assassin by the covert group Nether Gate.
History
Sagiri is a quiet, docile young woman who works as an investigator, along with Oboro and Shigure, in the Oboro Detective Agency. She had been previously trained from childhood to be an assassin for the covert group Nether Gate.
Sagiri's trainer noted that a smiling little girl approaching a target would have them lower their guard consistently and so Sagiri was trained to always smile, without pause. Even following the dismantlement of Nether Gate and her being taken in by Oboro, Sagiri was unable to make any facial expression beyond her single, fixed smile. Very few people can tell when this smile is genuine as opposed to a result of her condition. Shigure, who was very protective of Sagiri, was one of those few.
While still a child operative, Sagiri had assassinate Nakula's father around SY 436. Nakula tracked down Sagiri during the Sun Rune War but was persuaded to stay his hand, noting that the real enemies were the Godwin Faction. Talking with Nakula reforged Sagiri's dedication to fighting alongside the Imperial City Recapture Army, having previously only assisted in investigative work for Oboro.
Following the war, Nakula would leave her unharmed, stating that he would "get her last" before leaving to track down other Nether Gate members. She would also continue to work for the Oboro Detective Agency, now under Fuyo's leadership. It is said that once in a great while her smile slips just a little.
