Bergen (ベゲン, Begen) is a minor character in Suikoden V. Bergen is a young cave dwarf enamored with magic and the apprentice of Levi.
History
Bergen is a young cave dwarf who claims to be the apprentice of Levi. Unlike most cave dwarves who prefer to work with their hands, Bergen developed a keen interest in magic and seeing Levi's flashy magic awed him into becoming his apprentice ever since.
Despite protests from Zunda, he ended up leaving the Dwarf Camp and acting as Levi's apprentice. Although he considered himself Levi's apprentice, his training consisted mostly of digging for rune orbs in exchange for seeing some of Levi's magic, rather than actually learning any magic himself.
After Levi created the Big Hole with his magic, Bergen was set to digging up more runes when they both met the Prince. Interested in furthering his research with the three runes of Falena, Levi joined the Imperial City Recapture Army, bringing Bergen along with him.
Over the course of the war Bergen was reunited with his dwarven brethren and ended up becoming scared of magic after seeing how potent the power of the three runes of Falena were. During the war he became good friends with Sorensen and Dongo, both of whom were fellow apprentices often harassed by their masters.
Following the Sun Rune War, with his interest in magic dampened by fear, he decided to become Wabon's next apprentice and learn how to make things with his hands instead.
