Daigo Cecile (大湖 せしる, Daigo Seshiru, born March 8, 1983) is a Japanese actress and former star of the Takarazuka Revue. She is cast as Windy in Suikoden -Gate Rune Wars Arc- The Stage.

Known for her unique career path, she performed as a male role (男役, otokoyaku) for 11 years before switching to female roles (娘役, musumeyaku) in 2012, a rare move in Takarazuka history. She is affiliated with the talent agency Orionsbelt Global.[1]

Biography

Daigo was born in Kawanishi City, Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. Her real name is Takeuchi Sayaka (竹内 沙耶香). She entered the Takarazuka Music School in 2000 and joined the Takarazuka Revue in 2002 as part of the 88th class. She was assigned to the Snow Group.

Initially, Daigo excelled as a male role actor and was seen as a promising star in this tradition. In 2008, she played her first leading role in a newcomer's performance in "Mariposa no Hana" (The Flower of Mariposa). In a historic move for the Revue, she switched to female roles in May 2012, after 11 years as a male role actor.

After switching to female roles, she quickly rose to become the number two female role star in her troupe. Her first leading role as a female character was in the Bow Hall production "Spring Thunder" (春雷, Shunrai) in 2013. In 2014, she performed as a double heroine alongside Anri Hoshino in "The Charterhouse of Parma" (パルムの僧院, Parumu no Sōin). She achieved her first leading role in a Tokyo production in 2015 with "Al Capone".

Daigo left the Takarazuka Revue on May 8, 2016, after the Tokyo performance of "Rurouni Kenshin" (るろうに剣心). She has stated that upon hearing the next production would be "Rurouni Kenshin," she felt it was the perfect time to leave, as she preferred a standalone story for her final performance and liked kimono roles.[2]

Since leaving Takarazuka, she has been active in stage plays, particularly in the 2.5-dimensional musical genre.[1]

Personal Life

Daigo's stage name "Daigo" is said to have been inspired by former top star Wataru Kozuki, from whom she received the character for "lake" (湖). The name "Cecile" was proposed by a teacher at a cram school. Her nicknames are "Seshi" and "Seshiko".[2]

She is known for her beautiful and glamorous appearance. She has mentioned that she enjoys wearing kimono.
