He is currently a freelance voice actor, known for his roles in a wide range of anime and video games. He won the Best Rookie Actor award at the 15th Seiyu Awards in 2021.[1] Tsuchiya is the voice of Jowy Atreides in Suikoden: The Anime.
Biography
Tsuchiya was born into a family with connections to the entertainment industry; his second eldest sister is actress Tsuchiya Tao, and his eldest sister is former Miss Japan 2019, Tsuchiya Enka.[2] His given name, "Shinba," is derived from the name of the main character in the Disney animated film The Lion King.[3]
He began his path towards voice acting after meeting veteran voice actor Miyano Mamoru, which led him to join the Himawari Theatre Company, where Miyano was also a member, upon entering university.[4] He made his voice acting debut in 2016, voicing Flint in High School Ninja.[5]
On May 1, 2022, he announced via his newly created Twitter account that he had left the Himawari Theatre Group as of April 30, 2022.[6] He subsequently joined Transworld Japan on June 1, 2022, before announcing his departure on March 1, 2023, to become a freelance artist.[7]
