Born in Tochigi prefecture, Hasumi is an illustrator and painter. Since childhood, she has been familiar with cloth, needles, and threads, and has an interest in all aspects of manufacturing, including painting. She was originally discovered by an editor through his contribution to the magazine Illustrations, and in 1996 was providing illustration for her first novel.
Following this, she illustrated Terry Goodkind's "Sword of Truth" series, Otsuichi's picture book "Hide the Socks!" and was in charge of many publications and game-related illustrations, including a selection of cards for the Genso Suikoden Card Stories TCG.
In 2004, she published his first art book, Beyond the Transparent Door, and in 2015, her second art book, Wearing Transparent Colors. She currently resides in Tokyo and is an avid bird lover.
