The New Alliance Army (新同盟軍, Shin Dōmei-gun) was a group of soldiers and other volunteers who fought against the Highland Kingdom during the Dunan Unification War.

The New Alliance Army pulled together many different factions, including remnants of the City-States of Jowston's military, several mercenary and bandit groups as well as soldiers of the Toran Republic under the leadership of the hero, adopted son of the great Jowston hero, Genkaku as orchestrated by Shu.

Origins

The defeat of Solon Jhee prompted the establishment of the New Alliance Army.

After the fall of Muse City to Highland, the Jowston Alliance promptly disintegrated, its vast strength lacking cohesion. While the remnants of the Muse army fled westwards, to Greenhill Principality, surviving members of Viktor's mercenary army headed south, to South Window Principality, allying themselves with Lord Granmeyer.

However, while the mercenary group were investigating an incident at North Window, South Window quickly fell to Highland. Cornered at North Window, the group managed to recruit the help of master strategist Shu and shockingly forced the Highland forces to retreat.

The wave of optimism and hope following this victory, forged in equal parts by the mercenary group and the South Window troops who had turned on Highland in the midst of battle led to the swift establishment of the New Alliance Army at what was now New Alliance Army Headquarters.

Growth

The New Alliance Army officers gather just prior to the Conquest of Matilda.

At first a small organization with a paucity of soldiers, the New Alliance Army, as the war went on, grew in size through fame and alliance. Soon after its formation, it secured the entry of Two River Principality forces and also gained around half of both the Red and Blue Knights of Matilda.

As the war progressed, the New Alliance Army also took in the remnants of both Muse and Greenhill forces, gained the trust of a wary Tinto Principality and even entered into an alliance with the Toran Republic which saw 5,000 troops make the trip to Dunan to fight in the Dunan Unification War.

At its peak, the New Alliance Army totalled approximately 20,000 soldiers. This force, combined with the 108 Stars, was able to secure victory in the war, eventually taking the Highland capital of L'Renouille.

After the War

The New Alliance Army was disbanded at the end of the Dunan Unification War with its former base at North Window having grown into a prosperous town in its own right. However, many soldiers and officers did join or otherwise contribute to the Dunan Republic and the Dunan Republican Army, making the army something of a foundation for the new country.
