The Imperial Guard (帝国近衛隊, Teikoku Konoe Tai, Imperial Guard Corps) is a Scarlet Moon Empire military regiment that appears in Suikoden. The Imperial Guard is a military force that included Kraze Miles, Kanaan, and McDohl.

Information

The Imperial Guard was one of three divisions within the military organization of the Scarlet Moon Empire. Its primary responsibility was to ensure the protection of the emperor and safeguard the Imperial Capital of Gregminster. Being a relatively new branch of the empire's military, the Imperial Guard had essential duties to fulfill.

Members of the Imperial Guard were esteemed for their combat prowess and underwent rigorous training to handle various challenges, including travel to locations like Magician's Island. Among its multifaceted tasks within the Scarlet Moon Empire, the Imperial Guard was entrusted with retrieving the Astral Predications from the Seer, Leknaat. Additionally, they had the ability to investigate and resolve tax issues in towns under the empire's jurisdiction.

In later years, the Imperial Guard faced a decline in reputation due to the leadership of Kraze Miles, who served as its commander. During Kraze's tenure, the Imperial Guard became associated with corruption and brutality, a stark contrast to its original purpose. Strangely, serving in the Imperial Guard was considered an "honor" by Kraze, despite the tarnished image of the organization under his command.

Kanaan, Kraze's assistant, further exacerbated the situation by abusing his position to coerce subordinates into obedience. He maintained that disobeying him equated to defying the very essence of the Empire. Such abuses within the Imperial Guard severely marred its once-respected standing.

At the culmination of the Gate Rune War, Imperial Guard (Suikoden enemy) fiercely resisted the advance of the Toran Liberation Army within Gregminster Palace, marking them as one of the final barriers in the conflict.

Subsequently, with the establishment of the Toran Republic, the Imperial Guard was succeeded by the new Republican Guard, led by Alen and Glenshiel, who sought to bring about a new era under the republic's governance.
