The Battle of Muse (ミューズ市攻防戦, Myūzu-shi Kōbō-sen) is a battle in Suikoden II. It is the third war battle of the game and the first where the player commands more than one unit.

Information

The Battle of Muse was an early campaign of the Dunan Unification War. When the Highland Army invaded Muse Principality with an aim to take Muse City, Mayor Anabelle of Muse, requested the help of Viktor's mercenaries to delay the advance until the City-States of Jowston could mobilize fully. Viktor agreed and his forces, which included the hero, led the defense.

The Highland was force was led by the 4th Army under the command of Solon Jhee. Although the Muse forces experienced a number of unexpected setbacks during the battle, such as the withdrawal of the Matilda Knights in the middle of the engagement, the defending force succeeded in repelling the Highland advance.

However, Muse City would still fall, some two days later, when the gates of the city were opened from within by Jowy Atreides following the assassination of Lady Anabelle, allowing a Highland night raid to swiftly take the city.
