Indrik (インドリク, Indoriku) is a minor character in Suikoden Tierkreis. Indrik is an Auster Folk soldier entrusted to protect the Ancestral Altar in Lugenik.
History
Indrik was an oracle soldier of the Auster Folk who, alongside Diiwica, was assigned to protect the Ancestral Altar of Ordovic in the Auster Folk city of Lugenik. Although very quiet, he held a sharp, intelligent mind.
Once Ordovic awakened, Indrik would also join the Company with Diiwica. His natural curiosity led him to try and obtain answers to the mysteries surrounding Ordovic, earning him the ire of Diiwica on more than one occasion. However, it is not that he lacked faith in the Auster Folk teachings, merely that he sought to better understand them with knowledge.
Following the war, instead of following Vaslof to Cynas, Indrik would choose to become a protector of Lugenik in his stead.
Name
His name is most likely a reference to the Russian tale of the Indrik-beast (Russian: Индрик-зверь). It is a monster with the body of a bull, legs of a deer, the head of a horse and a gigantic horn on his head. It's also living on a holy mountain and is considered the king of all beasts. The Paraceratherium, an extinct genus of hornless rhinoceros, was named after this beast in the past (Indricotherium). This animal is considered to be one of the biggest land mammals that ever lived on earth.
