Chrodechild (クロデキルド, Kurodekirudo) is a major character in Suikoden Tierkreis. Chrodechild is the leader of the Blades of Night's Veil, an elite group of swordsmen dedicated to liberating their homeland, the Kingdom of Astrasia. Her in-game title is Blade of Light.
History

Chrodechild was the Crown Princess of the Kingdom of Astrasia and the leader of its Royal Knights. She was known as the Blade of Light, due to her prodigious talent with the blade.
As Princess, she led the Astrasian forces during their war with the Order of the One True Way. When the Order caused catastrophic landslides to occur outside the Astrasian capital of Pharamond, she avoided catastrophe due to being on the front lines but was cut off from the city due to the debris, leading to Pharamond's occupation.
Attempting to foolhardily assault the occupying forces, she was dissuaded by her adjutant Meruvis, who encouraged her to retreat and regroup for a future, viable, push to liberate the city and its citizenry. Shortly thereafter, all of Astrasia would be occupied and her sister, Princess Fredegund would also be captured.
Following their retreat, Chrodechild would organize her Royal Knights into the Blades of Night's Veil. She would also enter into an alliance with the Magedom of Janam, hoping that their mutual conflicts with the Order would lead to Astrasia's liberation in time.
However, King Danash VIII was more interested in making Chrodechild his 4th Empress Consort, thus drawing Chrodechild unwillingly into the courtly politics of El-Qaral and bringing her into conflict with Danash's other wives and motives, all while the status of Astrasia was dangled over her.
Eventually, things would come to a head with her arrest for alleged treachery. Thankfully, she would be aided by Asad and the hero and decided to break free from the Magedom, no longer seeing them as necessary to achieve her goals. Chrodechild would instead align the Blades of Night's Veil with the fledgling Company.
As the war continued, Chrodechild would encounter her sister, Fredegund, several times, who was now a loyal solider of the Order. She would be unable to persuade Fredegund to return to her side until during Pharamond's liberation, where Chrodechild would defeat her in single combat, finally breaking Fredegund free of the Order's malign influence.
Following the realization of all her efforts, Chrodechild would continue to fight alongside the Company against the Order. After the war, she would be crowned Queen of Astrasia, and put her efforts into reviving both her kingdom and Cynas.

Chrodechild's main theme is the song "Sword Princess". The song played during important Chrodechild-focused scenes but mainly around events in Pharamond. It is song 13 on disc 3 of the Genso Suikoden Tierkreis Original Soundtrack.
Other related Chrodechild songs include "The Suffering Sisters of the Night's Veil" (song 14, disc 3), "Twin Blades" (song 15, disc 3), and "The Princess of Two Swords" (song 16, disc 3). All three deal with Chrodechild's relationship with her sister, Fredegund.
