The Narcissists, also known as the Theme of Narcissism (ナルシーのテーマ, Narushī no Tēma) is a recurring song in the Suikoden series. It is usually used as the theme for any and all "narcissist"-styled characters and has been rearranged several times in album releases.
Information
In Suikoden, "The Narcissists" is used as the theme of Milich Oppenheimer, Vincent de Boule, and Esmeralda. The song is heard when first encountering Vincent in Antei, again when interacting with him at the Dragon's Den, and finally when recruiting him in Moravia.
Following recruitment, the song will play whenever the player speaks to Milich, Vincent, or Esmeralda at Toran Castle and will continue playing until the player either returns to the center of the castle or speaks with Kasios. It is song 28 on disc 1 of the official Genso Suikoden Original Game Soundtrack.
In Suikoden II, the song is remixed as "The Narcissists, Once Again". This version is shared by the returning Vincent de Boule as well as Simone Verdricci. It is song 4 on disc 2 of box 1 of the Genso Suikoden II Original Game Soundtrack. In Suikoden III, "Theme of Narcissism ~Once Again~" is the theme of Augustine Nabor. It is song 16 on disc 1 of the official Genso Suikoden III Original Soundtrack.
The song reappears in Suikoden IV, this time named "Reinbach Theme" after Schtolteheim Reinbach III. It is song 27 on disc 1 of the official Genso Suikoden IV Original Soundtrack. In Suikoden Tactics, Reinbach's theme is again "Theme of Narcissism", with a new arrangement for the game. It is song 25 on disc 1 of the Rhapsodia Original Soundtrack. Suikoden V's Josephine also uses an arrangement of the song.
Gorgeous Scarleticia is also an arrangement of this track, and is frequently used as the basis for further arrangements. In Genso Suikogaiden Vol.2, this arrangement features during the scenes where Nash Latkje encounters the narcissist characters from Suikoden and Suikoden II. The song also received a vocal rendition in the 2003 album Genso Suikoden Vocal Collection ~Distant Star: Echoes Of Love~, sung in English by Shintani Sanae.

* | "Feel like I'm still in my dream |
Am I waking up? | |
Still in my bed in the morning
Who knew this kind of thing could ever happen to me
I don't know what to do" (what to do)
Just a little trick can change everything
That's how it goes | |
No matter how you believe it or not
That's the way it is | |
That's how life goes | |
Life goes on, life goes on, life goes on
La la la... | |
* | repeat |
** | Maybe you will taste the sweet drop of tears |
Stamp the earth and find out
Step on step what did you hear? Did it sound good?
Don't miss the chance | |
If it's a chance, go, take a chance! (for you)
Obey your wishes | |
Listen to your heart and follow
Open your eyes, there is no time to blink your eyes
You can fly away | |
Flutter your wings, flutter your wings
Flap away, and flap away, and flap away!
La la la... | |
** | repeat |
