Golem (1996 localization)

The Clay Doll (クレイドール, Kureidōru, Clay Doll) is an enemy in the first Suikoden. The Clay Doll is the first boss of the game and is encountered on Magician's Island.

Information

This Clay Doll was summoned by Luc with the power of his True Wind Rune in order to "test" McDohl and his entourage following their arrival on Magician's Island in order to retrieve Leknaat's Astral Predications.

The Clay Doll's attacks included punching the ground to hit a foe with a tremor as well as throwing its boulder-like head at an opponent. Its defeat forced Luc to admit that McDohl and his entourage were the real deal and to escort them to Leknaat.

Trivia

  • In the 1996 English language localization of Suikoden, this enemy's name was localized as the Golem. In the Japanese version and the 2025 English localization of Suikoden I&II HD Remaster, it and the Clay Doll share the same name.
  • A golem is a being from Jewish mythology. It is a statue made of clay which is turned to life by means of magic.
