Kunan (クナン Kunan) is a region of the Toran Republic, and its predecessor, the Scarlet Moon Empire. It is located to the west of Lake Toran.

In gameplay guides, etc. for the first Suikoden, it is often referred to as the "Scarleticia area" or "Area D", as the fourth portion of the world map the player can access.

Overview

Kunan is a large region, bordered to the east by Lake Toran, to the north by Sadhna Stream, to the south by the region of Lorimar and to the west by the Lorimar Mountains and the Dragon Knight's Domain. Specialties of the region often flowed from here to Gouran and other regions.

During the Gate Rune War the region came under the control of Milich Oppenheimer who forced his own aesthetic tastes on the region, renaming many of the towns, while cracking down on rebel forces. He also encouraged the gathering of skilled workers, such as artists, doctors, and merchants. After the liberation of the region by the Toran Liberation Army, normalcy returned to the area.
