The Great Forest (大森林, Dai Shinrin) is a location in Suikoden.
Overview
The Great Forest covers much of the eastern portion of the Gouran region. Entering the forest brings you to the Forest of Illusion due to the barrier magic of the Six Wise Men of the Forest who lived there in ancient times. Because of this barrier, which has existed since around SY 80, non-human races, such as dwarves and elves, are not well known in the area.
Once the Scarlet Moon Empire rose to power in the Toran area, the Empire inherited the Great Contract. So as to avoid breaking its terms, the government never revealed the existence of the Great Forest to other regions of the Empire.
However, Lukie Ende Towayo was the key to this magic and it was destroyed during the Gate Rune War. Following the war, more and more humans have been entering the Great Forest.
