The Matilda Knights (マチルダ騎士団, Machiruda Kishidan) are a military order that appears in Suikoden II.

History

The Matilda Knights were founded in SY 280 with the financial support of Muse City. Initially a defense force to protect Muse City from invasion from the Highland Kingdom, it would become an independent body of its own in 294 and was a founding member of the City-States of Jowston in 314.

It would be the largest military force in the City-State and wielded considerable influence due to this. During the Dunan Unification War, the head of the knights, Gordeau, refused several times to fight in battles against the Highland Army, ultimately causing many knights to resign and fight with the New Alliance Army.

When Gordeau eventually allied with Highland, the order was fragmented further. Following the war, with the aid of Camus and Miklotov, the Matilda Knights were rebuilt.

Organization

The Matilda Knights, based at Rockaxe Castle, is a unique force, proud of its strength and forming part of the elite in the City-States of Jowston.

The knights are split into three divisions; the Red, Blue and White Knights. These orders also represent a pyramidal hierarchy with the White Knights on top and the Red and Blue Knights on the bottom.

The Blue Knights served as the order's expeditionary force. The Red Knights were tasked with defending the lands of Matilda itself, while the White Knights guarded Rockaxe Castle.

Ranking

The Matilda Knights are comprised of eight different ranks, from squire to knight leader. Gordeau was the knight leader while Camus and Miklotov were both knight captains.
