The Magnus Rune Cannon (巨大紋章砲, Kyodai Monshō-hō), also known as the Giant Rune Cannon, is a weapon of mass destruction shown in Suikoden IV. It was a great Rune Cannon designed by Warlock and installed by the Kooluk Empire in El-Eal Fortress.
Information
The Magnus Rune Cannon's creation stemmed from the sorcerer Warlock's experiments in harnessing the power of the Five Elements[1]. These experiments eventually led to the creation of the Rune Cannon. Eventually Cray Trading Company would influence Schtolteheim Reinbach II to order the creation of the Magnus Rune Cannon.
The Magnus Rune Cannon was installed in El-Eal Fortress, within the giant statue there.[2] Unlike other Rune Cannons, which were powered by the person wielding them, the Magnus Rune Cannon was directly powered by the Giant Tree Warlock had summoned in his experiments years ago.
Its rune shells were enormous compared to regular Rune Cannon ammunition and was developed by Warlock, under duress. These shells were delivered from Middleport to Kooluk via Orark Maritime Trade.
Graham Cray would order the firing of the Magnus Rune Cannon to destroy the surface of Iluya Island early in the Island Liberation War. With a single blow, it turned the entire surface of Iluya to ash.[3]
The Magnus Rune Cannon needed two hours to recharge after each shot. Elenor Silverberg would take advantage of this fact, baiting the cannon's crew to fire at a decoy, allowing the Allied Forces to contest the Final Engagement of the war.
