Rune orbs (封印球, Fūinkyū) are a natural phenomena in the Suikoden series. They are sometimes called rune crystals.
Overview
These orbs contain a sealed rune, the power of which can usually only be released by a rune master. A rune master can extract the rune from the orb and attach it to a person's body, allowing them to use the rune's power.
There are many types of rune orbs, but it is said that there are even more that have yet to be discovered. Orbs can be used by scroll makers to make magic scrolls. Some do this with excess orbs to reduce their weight, or because they are not proficient in casting magic as a rune bearer.
