Barbarossa raises the Dragon King Sword just before morphing into the Golden Hydra. (PSP)

The Dragon King Sword (竜王剣, Ryū Ō Tsurugi) is a sword seen in Suikoden.

Information

The Dragon King Sword was a famous sword and heirloom of the Scarlet Moon Empire. The Dragon King Sword is apparently a form that the Sovereign Rune has taken. As a result, wielding the sword meant that Emperor Barbarossa was immune to the effects of Windy's Conqueror Rune throughout the Gate Rune War.

Windy did not know the Dragon King Sword contained the Sovereign Rune and so it never came under suspicion from her. With the Sovereign Rune, the Dragon King Sword could transform its wielder into a three-headed dragon. The whereabouts of the sword after Barbarossa's defeat is unknown.

The sword was so famous that it was one of only two swords that Tessai thought could bring back his inspiration as a blacksmith, the other being the Celestial Sword.
