Sanchez (サンチェス, Sanchesu) is a supporting character in Suikoden. A spy for the Scarlet Moon Empire, Sanchez remained undetected for much of the Gate Rune War.

Sanchez is an analytical financial officer who joined the Imperial Army during the War of Succession. In the years following the Succession War, Sanchez joined during the Toran Liberation Army, managing the Toran Liberation Army's finances while working undercover as a Scarlet Moon Empire spy, putting his analytical skills and good memory to good use. His dedication to the Toran Liberation Army was such that he was never placed under suspicion. His strong memory lead to him being called "Well Read and Easily Remembered Sanchez."

Eventually, at the beginning of the Gate Rune War, Sanchez betrayed the location of the Liberation Army's hideout in Lenankamp, leading to an attack by the Scarlet Moon Empire on the headquarters that resulted in the death of Odessa Silverberg. Though Sanchez felt pained by this, Sanchez kept his role as a spy, reuniting with the other members of the Toran Liberation Army who survived and making his way to Toran Castle, where Tir McDohl, the new leader of the Toran Liberation Army, readily accepted Sanchez, Humphrey Mintz and Flik into his ranks. Sanchez aided the Liberation Army as he could, providing Tir McDohl with information, such as recalling the Toran Liberation Army from Kunan when Teo McDohl appeared at the Toran Castle. Soon after, suspicions of a spy in the army grew, although there was no evidence to suggest who the individual in question was.

As the Gate Rune War progressed, Sanchez began to felt torn between the two sides, unable to decide which side was right. Sanchez grew close to the members of the Toran Liberation Army, finding he liked all the officers there. In the end, however, he decided to side with the Scarlet Moon Empire out of sheer loyalty, as he found it difficult to change his way of life at his age . After the defeat of Sonya Shulen at the Battle at Floating Fortress Shasarazade, Sanchez waited until Tir and his party had entered the fortress to confront Sonya Shulen. Alone with only Mathiu Silverberg, Flik and Liukan, Sanchez seized the opportunity, stabbing Mathiu, inflicting injuries that Mathiu would eventually pass away from, before setting the fortress ablaze with Tir, Sonya and the others trapped inside.

Luckily, the others escaped the fortress with their lives and, at long last, Sanchez revealed himself as the spy. Flik, whom Sanchez had recently comforted about Odessa's death, wished to execute him immediately. Sanchez himself claimed that he had no regrets but asked that Flik remember that Sanchez was fond of the entire Liberation Army. However, a severely wounded Mathiu asked Flik to stand down, pointing out the severe impact this would have on the morale of the Toran Liberation Army when they were so close to victory . Forced to act as if nothing had happened, Sanchez continued his duties for the remainder of the war.

Following the Toran Liberation Army's victory, Lepant became the President of the Toran Republic. In one of Lepant's first acts, he made the controversial decision to privately pardon Sanchez, believing that the revelation of his deeds would be too much for the young nation to bear. Lepant also forced Sanchez to swear that he would never associate with any officials of the Toran Republic. Abiding by the terms of his pardon, Sanchez entered Qlon Temple in Lorimar.
