Katana (カタナ, Katana) is the nickname given to a nation whose actual name is unknown. It is the homeland of Genshu and Hazuki.
Information
Sake is a traditional Katana liquor and has spread outside the country to some extent. The word "katana", although used in many countries, traces its origin to this land. Young people from this nation frequently went on journeys of training and self-discovery before returning home.
Swordplay in Katana focuses on developing speed and nimbleness in combat.
Notes
Genshu's hometown in Suikoden II was always listed as "Unknown", but various publications mentioned offhandedly that he was from a foreign or exotic nation.
The name Katana comes from Genso Suikoden Short Story Collection 4 in which Genshu notes that the word "katana" originates from his homeland and the sake from his home country is called "Katana sake." The name Katana is never stated or used directly as a nickname for Genshu's homeland.
Hazuki was later mentioned as being from a "certain country" and it was revealed that she shared this homeland with Genshu.
